About Sculptures — According to the Laws of Chance series

“According to The Laws of Chance “

After Hans Harp’s philosophy, the sculpture series “According to the Laws of Chance”, explore the vagaries of chance and its impact on creativity. It reveals the multitude of possibilities, of worlds of creation that may or may not exist. According to this philosophy, my work in this series is an attempt to catch this momentum of being, maybe in their transient state of being.

About Mosaics

I am captivated by how a single gesture, cutting a small piece of stone, glass, marble or any other material (wood, metal, paper, …), when repeated, can become something complex and rich, with expressive quality. This led me to a strong interest in all things created by accretion, from Byzantine mosaics to domestic accumulations and present-day amassment.

Trying to create homogeneity, while keeping the individuality of each piece that is cut by hand, I explore many patterns, textures and colours. I think of my work as an ongoing inventory of fragments: objects, panels, sculptures and other creations.

My recent work with natural tree barks and wood is an attempt to rebuild the link between nature and me, and reconnect my cultural being with my natural one. I try to imprint my trace on these pieces to create “organisms” of beauty and memory.

About Paintings — Windows Of My Mind

These are abstract landscapes, where I explore the relationship between form and colour and the interrelation that exists between them. They evoke the wandering and connections that the mind creates in its quest for answers to ongoing questions. It’s a continuous search for the right answer that keeps eluding us. And as there is no one answer, in my landscapes there are  infinite possibilities of roads, valleys, tracks and traces. The small scale of the works reflects the many “windows” that open sometimes simultaneously in our minds.
